The Delano St. Patrick’s Day Parade as we know it has not taken place since the pandemic. After word went out last year that the parade was canceled, many people in the community jumped in to make a save.
Now the parade is back thanks to Xclusive Events, the event and venue management services group also responsible for ICT Bloktoberfest, The Final Friday Food Truck Rally, and Tacos & Tequila.
With that, the new parade will be the Delano Paddy Day Parade. They’ve been working feverishly with The Delano Neighborhood Association and many Delano businesses to keep the tradition alive and give it a fresh, updated feel.
The parade takes place on March 11th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there is a Kids Zone hosted by Rainbows United on the north side of Douglas on Osage St. and a booze truck on the north side of Douglas and Sycamore. There will also be a Teen Zone hosted by YEEP (Youth Educational Empowerment Program).
The street party runs the entire duration of the parade, which will include a food truck rally, drink trucks with green beer and a full bar. There’s live music from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the band Big Fat Fun playing from 2 to 5 p.m.
Parade route, times, and event locations can be found on the Facebook event page.
Did I mention, the parade & zones are FREE for the public to attend?
Be sure to free up your day on March 11 for what should be a jam packed day of fun.
