Earlier this month, Tanganyika Wildlife Park threw a baby shower. This wasn’t your typical one, though. It was for Monica, an Indian Rhino, who was weeks away from giving birth.
This was a significant pregnancy because it was the first rhino born from a mother conceived artificially, and this is considered a significant milestone for rhino conservation efforts.
During the shower, guests had the chance to guess the sex of the rhino.
Even Monica took a guess.

Then on Thursday evening, Feb. 16 at 9:20 p.m., baby MarJon arrived to the world.
MarJon came in at approximately 80 to 90 pounds and was nursing within just a few hours of birth. MarJon was named after Mary and Jon Sendall who have long supported the park.
It’s reported that both mom and baby MarJon are doing great. The first time mother is already acting like a pro and bonding with her calf.
