A delicious restaurant like Bann Thai Restaurant should never be empty

There are so many restaurants in Wichita, and some places I wish I could make it out to more than I do. One of those spots is Bann Thai Restaurant, located at 3811 W. 13th St. near 13th and West St.

Wichita’s blessed to have some delicious Thai food in town, and this is one that’s definitely worth checking out.

For starters, the last two times I’ve been in, the scene has been like this over lunch. It sucks to see a place this good struggle over lunchtime. So if you’re reading this, please show them some love if it’s convenient for you.

Bann Thai

On every visit, diners receive a complimentary soup upon ordering. It’s been described to me as a porridge of sorts; something light, basic, and a palate cleanser for what’s to come. I really need to ask for a specific name for the dish, but keep forgetting to.

99% of the time, I order the Tom Yum soup; it’s so good. But I told myself, I would do something different next time, and I did. For lunch, I had the curry with chicken. If you love a sweet coconut flavor in your curry, this is definitely one to order. If it’s not, there are plenty of different curry options to choose from.

I also went with mild heat because I wanted to make it through the day without sweating.

For my second main entree, I went with the Spicy basil with chicken. It was a stir-fried dish with garlic, green beans, red and green bell peppers, and basil leaf. Once again, it was another winner of a dish. I simply poured everything over the rice and endured pure harmony with each bite. Whatever sauce the vegetables and meats were cooked in was spectacular. I love any basil style dish and Bann Thai did a fantastic job with it.

Bann Thai is the type of restaurant that deserves more love. It’s a locally owned restaurant by one lady who works her tail off and is basically a staff of one.

Happy Dining,
