In case you didn’t think there was enough going on in northwest Wichita, things are about to get busier. Many new businesses, attractions, restaurants are on the horizon for one of the fastest growing parts of town. Let’s get to it.
TAKE 5 CAR WASH
When we discuss new businesses, it’s hard to leave out car washes because they keep popping up. One of the latest ones getting ready to open in the next month or two is Take 5 Car Wash.
The building’s already up, vacuums look to be installed and things look close to completion. Take 5 Car Wash will be located at the southwest corner of 29th and Maize, immediately north of the former Torchy’s Taco space.
The car wash chain, who is new to the Wichita market, offers 5-minute express car washes and free vacuums for customer use. Take 5 is ready to enter a competitive space where two other car washes already reside in a two-mile stretch of Maize Road.
DEANO’S GRILL & TAPWORKS
The grill and bar that’s been wildly popular in east Wichita is ready to expand to northwest Wichita.
A second Deano’s Grill & Tapworks is headed to Pier 37, near 37th and Ridge Road. Restaurants and bars with great outdoor scenery in northwest Wichita are hard to find, and this new Deano’s will have two patios (one upstairs and one downstairs) overlooking Pier 37.
If you’re driving near 37th and Ridge, it’s the land around the southwest corner of the intersection and west of the Wendy’s. The gastropub should be a very welcome addition to the area of town, which doesn’t have many watering holes north of 29th street.
You can expect to see the new Deano’s tentatively towards the end of the year.
BOWLING ALLEY
Ever since Bowlero took over many of the bowling alleys in town, complaints have come in about pricing, changes to the food and more. Would the city support a locally owned bowling alley? We’re about to find out.
The Ridge will be a new 32-lane bowling center planned for the area south of K-96 and east of Ridge Road. It’ll be owned by Ray Baty who’s no stranger to the bowling scene after his years with Joma Bowling Co. The new bowling center will also have a bar and restaurant.
We are still a year away from The Ridge’s opening, but this is another exciting family entertainment option for northwest Wichita.
POPEYE’S
Construction has started for northwest Wichita’s first Popeye’s.
Landmark Commercial Real Estate originally announced in a press release that the national fried chicken chain is expanding their Wichita presence with another location at the start of the year.
The new build is going up at 29th and Maize Road in front of the Sam’s Club. Construction is taking place between the Dunkin and IHOP on the east side of Maize Road. This will be the start of what will be many new Popeye’s franchises, not just in Wichita, but Kansas. From what I’m hearing, this Popeye’s should be ready to go by late summer/early fall. After that, word is another Popeye’s could be headed to one of the smaller city’s just outside of Wichita!!!!
PARIS BAGUETTE
One of the owners of Paris Baguette has confirmed with me a second one is headed to northwest Wichita at the northeast corner of 29th and Ridge. It will be placed in a new strip center that has yet to be built.
Things are still very early for the new Paris Baguette, who has another location at 9680 E. 21st St.
While no tentative opening date has been given for the French-inspired bakery and restaurant that started in South Korea, it’ll likely be at least be a year for this one.
