One of the coolest light shows will be returning to Exploration Place when the Drone Light Festival takes place on September 21-23.
Last year marked the first year of the event, when hundreds and hundreds of people packed the place to watch the synchronized drones.
Wichita’s drone light show returns as a festival to Exploration Place on September 21-23, 2023!
The year’s festival will be bigger and better than last year. The Drone Light Festival will provide breathtaking views of 300 synchronized drones, which is 100 more than last year. They’ll all be choreographed with music. Exploration Place will also be planning some exciting enhancements to the experience, including new custom drone formations, floating Chinese water lanterns, projections on the Exploration Place buildings and a concert lit by more than 2,000 candles. Food trucks, activity booths and more will also surround the area.
This year’s festival has been stretched to three days to ensure everybody can get in on the fun.
In addition to the festival, Exploration Place is having a contest to design a drone light festival formation. The winning design will be turned into a 300 drone formation at the 2023 Drone Light Festival. A winner in each category, kid and adult, will be chosen by a panel of impartial judges. Firefly Drones will then translate the drawing into a formation appropriate for flight. Each winner will receive a Carload Pass to attend the Drone Light Festival on the night of their choice, as well as four VIP tickets for the show. Entries are due June 30.
Those interested can learn more about the contest here.
Tickets to the Drone Light Festival are $15 for an individual ticket (no parking) or $60 for a carload pass for up to 9 people.
