It was less than a month ago when I stopped by Culver’s for my first time while up in Olathe, KS recently.
My first impression was pretty good and it’s a chain I’d definitely return to. It now looks like I may not have to drive more than two hours as news as broke that a Culver’s location will be opening in Wichita.
It was first reported by the Wichita Eagle that a Culver’s will be headed to 3210 N. Maize Road, which is near the IHOP, Dunkin and planned Popeye’s just north of 29th and Maize Road. As of now, it will probably be another 6–8 months until it’s completed.
Culver’s was founded in 1984 with the very first location in the owner’s hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin. Two of the biggest items on the menu back in the 80s were the ButterBurgers and frozen custard, both of which remain on the menu to this day. Primarily found in the Midwest, the chain now has a total of roughly 900 restaurants in 26 states. Eight locations can be found in Kansas, with essentially all of them in the northeastern part of the state in cities like Overland Park, Olathe, Kansas City, and Lenexa. This will be the first one in Wichita, with a potential second one opening in 2024.
