It’s returning this September! Kansas Sneaker Fest, which was a big hit back in March, will have their second event of the year on Saturday, September 16 from noon to 5 p.m. at Charles Koch Arena’s Aetna Multi-Purpose Center.
This is the biggest event in town for sneakerheads that celebrates the sneaker culture like no other event can do. The convention for all things sneakers is a unique marketplace for sneaker enthusiasts to buy, sell, and trade sneakers among each other. The event features vendors selling and displaying the latest and most sought after sneakers, highly coveted vintage clothing, streetwear brands and accessories.
Other activities include a free throw competition where attendees face off for a chance to win a slew of prizes. Popular hoopers like Sir Isaac, Dmo Flightz and more will partake in a Festive Hoop Jam Slam Dunk Contest.
The event, which started in 2011, was created by Nnanna Okpara, Owner & Director of Festive ICT, an event production company in Wichita that produces events such as Wichita Taco Fest, Shop & Grub, Margaritas &. Mojitos and more.
Kansas Sneaker Fest also includes a local sock drive that has been active for close to a decade. Socks and undergarments are the most requested items from shelters across the country. Festive ICT uses this platform to assist and support local shelters via the sock drive. This past March they had a record amount of socks donated which made the Wichita Children’s Home a very happy place! Attendees are asked to donate 3 pairs of new socks in exchange for a ticket that allows them to enter a raffle for a highly coveted pair of sneakers. All socks collected are donated to a local shelter in the Wichita area.
