I was driving down Kellogg and didn’t know what to get for lunch. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw Teppanyaki Grill & Sushi Buffet. There was a mental debate whether I should stop by, but since it’s been a few years, I decided now was a good time as ever to revisit probably the largest Chinese buffet restaurant in Wichita.

I looked it up and my last visit to Teppanyaki Grill was in 2019 and since then, prices went up by roughly $4-5 for lunch and dinner buffets. That was the least of my worries, as I always say, if you think the food is delicious than the price shouldn’t matter as much.
Compared to the other Chinese buffets in town, Teppanyaki Grill is the largest in terms of total items to choose from. There’s a mix of Chinese and American food, a small selection of sushi, desserts, and a Mongolian Grill. It’s truly a lot to pick from.
Here’s a look at some of what they had on hand:
Usually at most Chinese buffets, I can find at least one thing I like, but that wasn’t the case at Teppanyaki Grill. I’m not concerned with texture, look, cleanliness, I just want good food. And to be honest, this place didn’t score high marks on anything.
This place had the driest sushi I’ve ever had in my life. For all I know, it could have been one of my daughter’s squishy toys I was eating.
I even tried the Mongolian Grill. There was some discoloration on a lot of the food when I went through the line. Not sure how long it had been sitting there, but I gave it a go and to no surprise, it wasn’t good either. The meat was tough and tasted really off.
There’s the old saying that most people will get hungry 15 minutes after eating Chinese food. I was hungry the moment I stepped out the door…. for something appetizing.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
