It’s been Riverside Cafe, Crazy Horse Supper Club and now it’s an El Fiesta Tacos & Cantina. I stopped by recently to visit one of the city’s newest Mexican restaurants.

My lunch started off with chips and salsa, but not really salsa. They didn’t tell me the name of it, but there were little hot dog pieces in it, which is the first place in town I’ve seen this at.
It was alright; slightly bland, very runny and not much in terms of any hint of heat. I love hot dogs, but didn’t think it added much to it.
There was a dollar taco special running on Tuesday so I went with six street tacos with al pastor, lengua and tripa. The tacos were of the smaller size and I’m uncertain if a different tortilla is used for non-Taco Tuesday specials.
To keep this short and sweet, the tacos didn’t resonate with my taste buds. I found the lengua to be very tough and overcooked. The tripa and al pastor OK, but the latter was a little chewier than I would have preferred. Everything just felt bland to me.
The service was great and perhaps it was an off day, but El Fiesta didn’t give me the best first impression. And that stinks because they’ll need to do well to be able to compete with Pollo Express, which is at the same corner at Pawnee and Meridian.
Here’s their menu.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
