Up next on my tour around Wichita to businesses I’ve never been to was Local Roasters Co.

It’s a coffee micro-roaster located at 2828 E. Douglas Ave. The business aims to provide high-quality coffee to every kind of coffee drinker. Here’s the story straight from Local Rosters Co.’s website:

Local Roasters Co. is a small company with a simple idea. Roast a variety of coffees, and roast them for all tastes. Founded in 2018 by a couple of coffee lovers, we are a business committed to growing the variety of coffee available in the Wichita community and beyond. Our coffees are roasted in small batches, bagged by hand, and nitrogen-flushed to ensure maximum freshness and an extended shelf life. As a small business, we try our best to responsibly source our green coffees from brokers and suppliers who support their coffee producing communities. We believe that coffee is as diverse as the people who drink it, and our mission is to reflect this back to our customers in everything that we create.

While I have basically zero knowledge about coffee, I walked in and was warmly greeted by a helpful gentleman every step of the way.

He talked me through the business and gave me a simple rundown of what they carried.

My better half drinks plenty of coffee, and I figured it’d be a good stop to pick her up some beans for our espresso machine.

He asked what kind of coffee she typically drinks along with some other questions. From there, he provided some suggestions and explained what each one entailed. He broke it down to something a complete newbie would understand… or at least I tried to.

I intended to purchase just one bag, but since he was so helpful, I ended up getting two different ones.

I walked out of Local Roasters Co. one percent smarter about coffee (mostly because I’m just not that bright) and as a happy first-time customer.

Local Roasters Co. is located at 2828 E. Douglas Avenue. Products can be purchased on their website or in stores. If you choose the latter, store hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
