First Look at BurgDogs inside Towne East Square

BurgDogs

There’s a new dining option in the lower level food court at Towne East Square. BurgDogs just opened in the past month and is a locally owned specialty hot dog and burgers restaurant.  You can find them at the food court between Master Wok and Charley’s Philly Steaks.

The menu features 10 different combos featuring either burgers or dogs, done in a classic style or with different twists that include avocado, BBQ sauce, among other options. They also have chicken tenders on the menu.

I decided to go with something basic because I’m always of the opinion that if you can’t execute basic than we have a problem.

I went with the combo #6, which was the classic dog (hot dog bun, 1/4 beef frank, cheese, and bacon), a side of fries and a 20 oz. soft drink. Those who wanted to doctor their meals, could do so via little condiment stations that had ruffles, Cheetos, Doritos, pickles and more.

Everything was cooked on site and my food was ready in mere minutes. For starters, the cheese was a slice of American cheese folded into the bun. The bacon on my dog was a decently size piece, and the hot dog itself was a plump one.

The fries were about as bad as Burger King. If anybody has ever had Burger King fries, they are dry, bland, void of any seasoning and just bad.

I liked how plump and big the hot dog was (insert, a “that’s what she said joke”). But aside from that, it was nothing memorable. It could have used a little more char or something. While it was grilled on a flat top, it tasted as if someone nuked it in the microwave for 15 seconds.

Verdict? Not so impressed. If I’m at the food court again, I’m probably getting something else.

Here’s the menu:
