Last year, Station 8 BBQ owner, purchased the prefab metal building we all knew as Walt’s Klassics. The building was moved downtown to a temporary location.
Last week, the restaurant which will be Station 8’s second venture found its final home right across the street from Station 8 BBQ at 1100 E. 3rd St.

While there’s no timetable for when the new restaurant will open, the next big step is reconnecting all the plumbing and electric, which starts this week.
“30 years of great burgers and fries as a Walts took its toll on the interior but I will be cleaning it up and refinishing it back to its diner glory,” Eftekhar said. Adding that, “We are excited to get the stainless body of the building to shine again.”

The new restaurant doesn’t have a name or menu, both of which are still up in the air. Eftekhar mentioned he could easily have 50 items he’d like to put on the permanent menu, but needs to narrow that down to 10 main ones to fit the space.
He already knows of one item that will make the menu, chiming in with, “The S8 Pastrami Sandwich will be a permanent item there for sure.”
If the food is as good as Station 8, which I’m sure it will be, then Wichita is in for a treat! I’ll be sure to share more information as it comes along.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
