The Appetite’s owner, Marcus Wooley, is a young gentleman who spent some time at Butler’s culinary school and has built quite a following in the short month his restaurant has been open. Much of the popularity came from his dollar sliders, which are now only available at that price through random happy hours that are shared on the restaurant’s Facebook page. At times, there were hour long waits at The Appetite.
I finally made it out to the southside restaurant and placed an order for a few sliders along with a French onion burger, which I was told was a very popular option.
It was definitely more food than I could handle. I started off with the French onion burger, which was quite tasty. The fries, while a bit soggy, were well-seasoned and had my hands continually going back for more. The burger did a phenomenal job of bringing in the trademark French onion flavor in burger form. It came with a cup of au jus that was the perfect for the burger.
In hindsight, I shouldn’t have ordered the sliders, but felt it was necessary due to how popular they were. I ate just one as I was incredibly full. The slider tasted like they came from someone’s backyard grill; which rang true to the whole homestyle theme of the restaurant. It truly tasted like home.
I have to hand it to The Appetite. The young man put out some quality food.
Fortunately, I came by when the restaurant wasn’t too busy, so my wait for food wasn’t long. But when the restaurant is busy, it can take some time because sometimes it’s like a one-man show at the restaurant. Something to keep in mind should you stop by.

Happy Dining,
