Wichita’s first female firefighter honored by the City of Wichita

The city of Wichita and the Wichita Fire Department honored the city’s first female firefighter on Wednesday morning.

Members of the fire department and the city had a surprise presentation at Fire Station #1. There they honored Rebecca Downum Chandler for her trailblazing moment for the city.

Also in attendance was Fire Chief Tammy Show who is the department’s first female fire chief.
