Riverside just got cooler with one of the city’s newest restaurants. The space at 828 W. 11th St. that has housed Chiquita’s Corner, Roxie’s in Riverside and most recently Cool Breeze Pizza, is now Nacho Mama’s. If you’re familiar with R Coffee House and Adios Nachoria, then you’ll likely fall in love with this newest establishment run by the parents of the brothers who own the aforementioned restaurants.
828 W 11th St., Wichita, Kansas 67203
Thursday – Saturday: 11am – 6pm
Sunday: 10am – 4pm
Closed Monday – Wednesday
The menu is simple and offers a handful of grab and go meals, or you can always enjoy them on the Nacho Mama’s patio. It’s classic Mexican dishes including nachos, enchiladas, tacos, and burritos; all traditional recipes that have been prepared at home and now at the restaurant.
For my first visit, I had the 2 enchilada dinner which came with beef, potatoes, peas, onion, and cheese. I had a side of rice and beans, along with chips and queso.
Like the menu, this was a simple, well executed classic dish done right. The rice was so good, we ordered a second helping for my daughter. The enchiladas were a delicious little treat over our lunch visit to Nacho Mama’s. I typically don’t enjoy peas and potatoes in my enchiladas, but for whatever reason, this really hit the spot.
This wasn’t anything over the top, just no frills comfort Mexican food. And the couple who runs Nacho Mama’s, just fine, excellent people.
