There are a LOT of taco trucks scattered all over town, and one of the recent mobile additions over the past year in Wichita is Jaliscos Taqueria. The taco truck can be found parked outside the Family Dollar store near 21st and Waco.

While their hours are technically from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., that is all subject to change with the colder temperatures coming. But one of the nice parts about Jaliscos Taqueria is that they give you a buzzer when you order in person. That way, you can wait in your car and wait for the buzzer to go when it’s ready.
During my visit, I noticed there were a lot of call-in orders, so that’s something to consider if you’re looking to check them out.
Jaliscos Taqueria had eight different proteins to offer, including asada, pastor, pollo, carnitas, barbacoa, buche and lengua. And the tacos were $1.75 each, which is a good value compared to the rising price of tacos around town.
I placed a fairly large order for my family that included pastor, pollo, buche, and lengua. Here’s a glimpse of a portion of our order.
There was something off about the lengua, maybe a little undercooked, but that was the only issue we had with the tacos. Otherwise, everything else was pretty good. The kids enjoyed the pastor, but noted they were a little greasy and have had better in town. My favorite was probably the chicken and buche.
If you’re a fan of portion sizes, the tacos were stuffed with plenty of protein, which was a great selling point of the $1.75 tacos. In the end, the tacos were good, but also not incredibly memorable for us.
Would I say this is a top ten taco truck in town? Probably not, but that’s just one person’s opinion. They are still worth a try if you’re a foodie or adventurer and love trying new things. Plus, at a $1.75, what do you have to lose….. besides a $1.75?
