Sam’s Southern Eatery will return to Wichita in the former DeFazio’s space

It’s been two years since DeFazio’s closed their restaurant at 2706 N. Amidon. Since then, the building has set vacant, awaiting something to take its place.

Over the last two years, I’m quite shocked a new chicken or Mexican restaurant has taken its place. Now, signage is up on the DeFazio’s building announcing the return of Sam’s Southern Eatery.

The seafood restaurant was last opened in Wichita in early 2022 at 6600 W. Central with at least two different owners. A new owner will be handling the latest iteration of Sam’s Southern Eatery.

The first Sam’s Southern Eatery opened in Louisiana and has expanded to the Midwest and south part of the country.  The house specialties include fried fish, seafood, Po Boy sandwiches, and chicken.

An opening for the restaurant is expected to take place next month. Stay tuned for more.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
