Jamaican food will make a return to The Rusty Nail on Monday night

It’s been a little over a year since Wichita has had Sorrel’s Jamaican Food. The restaurant who started out as a food truck had quite the number of changes during their time in Wichita.

Sorrel’s first started in 2017 when they had a food truck parked outside of Central Standard Brewing.

Following the food truck stint, Sorrel’s opened a brick & mortar space with locations starting on east Central then moving to west 13th, then over to where Tor Brewing is at now and back south to east Harry. The restaurant closed after the family announced they would be moving out of state.

Then in a surprise move, I was informed that the former head cook, Sorrel, is back in Wichita and holding a pop-up on Monday night, January 8 at 7 p.m. at The Rusty Nail at 1155 S. Washington Avenue. For the record, this isn’t technically the restaurant’s return, but the main cook who will be handling the food.

During this pop-up event, jerk chicken, jerk pork, brown stew, chicken curry and other dishes will be served. Full plates will start at $15 on up.
