Happy Lunar New Year! It’s almost time to welcome the Year of the Dragon. There will be many events all over town. Churches, restaurants, and local businesses will be getting in on the fun.

I looked around for what’s taking place for the new year and rounded up some of the best events in Wichita to mark the occasion and help you celebrate. Please let us know if you see an event that we don’t have listed. Just send me over an email or drop it in the comments below.

Where To Celebrate the Lunar New Year

February 4-8

All Saints Catholic Church – 10 a.m. to 7p.m.
3205 E. Grand
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until February 8, All Saints Church will be selling Vietnamese food along with New Year decorations at the Fischer Center at All Saints.

Friday, February 9

Rhatigan Student Center – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
1845 N. Fairmount St.
Join us for our Lunar New Year celebration, as we commemorate the arrival of the majestic Dragon! This event will be filled with cultural activities, performances, and delights as we gather to celebrate the spirit of unity, joy, and renewal during this auspicious Lunar New Year. We hope the Year of the Dragon brings prosperity, success, and happiness to all! FREE BOBA for a limited time!

Saturday, February 10

Kimson Asian Market – 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
960 E. Pawnee St.
Come out and celebrate Lunar New Year with us! This year will be the year of the dragon! We will have three different lion dance groups this year starting from 11am-1:30pm. This is a great event that we have every year for the community to come out and celebrate with us. We hope that you all can make it and please stay after to receive a lucky new years envelope!

Saigon Oriental Restaurant – Starts at 11:30 a.m.
“TET” CELEBRATION (Lunar New Year). This year, Saigon Oriental Restaurant celebrates the year of the Dragon! Li Xi (Lucky Red Envelops) given to dine-in customers. At 11:30 a.m., the East High School Lion Dance Club will perform.

Crafted – Starts at Noon

Introducing the mesmerizing Dragon Dance for Tet New Year at Crafted Wichita on Saturday February 10th, 2024. Advanced Learning Center – 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Get ready for Lunar New Year with us! We’ll learn about annual traditions with this year’s Miss Wichita Asian Festival, bring in good fortune with the East High Lion Dance club, and learn about lucky ways to start the new year.

Mansion Nail Lounge – Starts at 2 p.m.

Welcome everyone come to celebrate the lunar new year with us at Mansion nail lounge on February,10 at 2 pm , Lions dance at 2 , we will give away lucky money.

Feng Cha – Starts at 3 p.m.

The longest fire crackers, dragon and lion dance performances, throwing out dragon and boba plushes in the air, giving out lucky money, dragon golden keychains and boba keychains.

Lunar New Year Celebration at Ooo LaLa Stone Pho – Starts at 1 p.m.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM, as we invite you to come and celebrate the Lunar New Year with us. Get ready for an unforgettable experience featuring a mesmerizing Dragon Dance and an exciting Firecracker show. But that’s not all! We have some amazing surprises in store for you. The first 50 customers will receive lucky money, and 5$ off for next visit and there will also be a chance to win a $100 gift certificate in a special drawing at the end of the day.

WSU Vietnamese Student Association Tết Show – Starts at 7 p.m.
1845 Fairmount Street
WSU VSA proudly presents our annual Tết Show! Join us as we celebrate and welcome the new year with various performances and acts! Tickets can be preordered through the link in our bio and they will also be sold the day of at the door. A percent of the proceeds will go towards philanthropy project, Rock Paper Scissors. VSA members can preorder tickets for $3, otherwise tickets will be $5. Doors open at 6:30PM and the show will start at 7PM on February 24th, 2024.

They are the 6th Generation of the Lion Dance Team of St. Anthony! Their history goes back to the 1990s. It has been over three decades, when the founders decided to form the team, their dedication made it into reality and grew to prosperity ever since.
