Wichita Public Library Updates Hours at Two Branches

The Wichita Public Library is updating its hours of operations at two branch locations that will increase the number of hours opened each week and will provide needed evening and weekend hours to help better serve the surrounding communities.

Beginning Saturday, February 3, the hours of operation at the Angelou Branch (3051 E. 21st St.) will be:

  • Tuesday-Thursday: 1-8 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday: 1-6 p.m.
  • Sunday-Monday: Closed

The hours of operation at the Walters Branch (4195 E. Harry St.) will be:

  • Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Last year, the City Council passed a program option in the City’s 24/25 budget that would allow one new full-time professional librarian position at both branches to support building community partnerships, programming, increased technology assistance, and support for lifelong learning opportunities. Part of the program option included slightly increasing operating hours at both locations to be open when residents need to use the library.
