Sneak peek inside The Depot: a new collaboration between Ziggy’s Pizza and Walnut River Brewing

The Depot

Something familiar will be taking over the Pourhouse space at Union Station at 711 E. Douglas. Introducing The Depot, which is a collaboration between Ziggy’s Pizza along with Walnut River Brewing who operated Pourhouse.

The Depot is scheduled to open to the public next week (first week of April), but we got a sneak peek inside ahead of the grand opening for you all to see.

Full transparency, I was invited to a friends and family night where food items were marked at half off. For the record, we did order some drinks to make up the difference along with tipping more than the 20%.

We enjoyed some of the changes inside that included more bar space, televisions around the restaurants and a better use of the upstairs than before.

A pool table, televisions, dart machines and Golden Tee were added upstairs to give families more things to do and hang out.

Here at The Depot, whose name originates from The Rock Island Depot at Union Station back in the late 1800s, you can find the classic Ziggy’s food and Walnut River Brewing’s beers.

We ordered an assortment of favorites from Ziggy’s such as the Classic Ziggy’s pizza and wings, along with Mac n cheese and even some summer brew made with Walnut River’s Teter Rock Kölsch.

Due to the special invite and discounted food, I want to avoid actually reviewing the food out of conflict of interest. I’ll say everything was consistent so if you’ve been to Ziggy’s, you know exactly what to expect.

A lot of what we experienced at both Ziggy’s and Walnut River Brewing can be found at The Depot, just with a different vibe to it. Lots of games for the families upstairs, a place for adults to hang out; even a new pregame spot for concerts or sporting events at the nearby Intrust Bank Arena. Rest assured I will return soon post opening to get a deeper dive and try some new items on the menu such as the brew house favorites section. Maybe even get a game of Golden Tee in as it has been years for me.

Here’s the menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
