Wichita Riverfest announces button price increase for 2024

In a press release post on the Wichita Riverfest website, it was announced that button prices would be increasing this year.

The buttons which go on sale beginning Monday, April 15 will be $20 for adults and $10 for children 6-11, while children 5 and under are free. The last time button prices went up was in 2022 when adult buttons went from $10 to $15. There will also be no early bird pricing this year.

Buttons are a big source of revenue for the 9-day event.

Nancy Duling, President and CEO of Wichita Festivals said, “We considered all the options, and unfortunately, with rising prices everywhere, it was a tough decision, but we knew to continue the legacy of what Riverfest means for our community, we needed to raise the button price. The cost of doing business has increased, and we want to do everything we can to keep the festival unique and a time- honored tradition in Wichita.”

In the same press release, it was also announced Multi-instrumentalist and platinum-selling artist Hunter Hayes would perform on Saturday, June 1,. Hayes has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.

The increase will surely be a hot topic as the festival looms closer. It will now cost a family of four anywhere from $40-80 depending on how old their children are to attend the festival. While many people will say this has priced them out, I wanted to compare some prices. Back in December 2022, I pulled together data of how much it would cost to take a family of four out on a weekday. Keep in mind these prices are now 15 months old so they could have gone up (or down) since the time of this graphic.

The price of Wichita Riverfest is still one of the more affordable options or towards the middle depending on the size of your family when compared to other attractions. And remember, the Riverfest button is access to a 9-day event versus a one-time deal like most of the ones listed below.

If you’re looking to purchase a button, they start Monday, April 15, and can be purchased at the Riverfest office at 444 E. William, during business hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Beginning May 3, QuikTrip will sell buttons at all locations in Wichita, Derby, and El Dorado.
