Mystic’s Mic returns for 2024 with a poetry Spring Showcase! Spring into the new year with donuts and outstanding local poets!

■ Bitchy Bingo benefitting Kansas K-9 ResQ | April 12
Where: XY Bar
Join Kansas K-9 ResQ at XY Bar on April 12 for another round of Bitchy Bingo! A little sassy and a bit smart-assy, this 21+ event will be hosted by the one and only Lorelei and will feature some amazing prizes from local businesses (and a few naughty prizes, too)! You don’t want to miss this event! Doors open at 6pm and Bingo starts at 7pm. ALL proceeds from Bingo, blackout cards, blotters, pizza, and cookies go directly to Kansas K-9 ResQ to help provide vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, food, and supplies for our foster dogs. Some of our dogs will be in attendance, too! We cannot wait to see ya! BE SURE TO RSVP by calling XY Bar (316 201-4670) or DMing them on Facebook to secure your spot at a bingo table. The bar will be offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and loads of entertainment! $20 gets you a bingo card, $5 for a blackout card, and $2 for blotters. We’ll also have pizza and cookies!

Badass Women Scavenger Hunt

■ Badass Women Scavenger Hunt | April 13

Tanya’s Soup Kitchen
Come with a team of 4 or fewer, or join with others to form a team that day. Men are welcome, too.  Check in at 11:30 AM to get your Hunt sheet, gather your team to solve clues, and plot your driving route to prepare to set out for your adventure at noon.  All clue destinations are less than 5 miles from downtown Wichita.   Be sure someone on your team has a phone capable of taking photos and emailing them or uploading to Facebook. We’ll gather back at home base no later than 2 PM to tally the points, award prizes, and celebrate the winners! Cash bar and food are available to order.

■ Wichita Tulip Festival | April 13-14
Where: 
Botanica
Come celebrate the kickoff of spring at Botanica with a stunning display of over 70,000 colorful tulips curated by our garden staff and volunteers! Join us on the 2nd & 3rd weekends of April for our annual Tulip Festival, where you can enjoy 100 varieties of tulips, 35 of which are new to bloom in the garden this year. This is the perfect spring event to get families and friends outside to experience the gardens and enjoy beautiful spring blooms, live music, and tasty food and drinks. Also enjoy fun activities such as yard games, children’s art and science activities, carousel rides, tulip information stations and a petting zoo on the Grand Lawn.

■ Wichita Flea Market | April 13

Take me out to the flea market! Baseball and shopping – two of America’s favorite pastimes merge together when the Wichita Flea Market takes over the home of the Wind Suge, Riverfront Stadium, this Saturday, April 13th. This is only a one-day show and we’ll be open on Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Tickets to the Flea Market will be $3 and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Delano entrance (NW corner of the stadium) or look on Facebook for free ticket giveaways.

■ Brews Clues & Running Shoes | April 13
Where: 
Downtown Wichita
Brews, Clues and Running Shoes is a twist on the Amazing Race! It’s part trivia and part challenges. Teams of 4 must solve clues to find checkpoints throughout Downtown Wichita. To move on you must perform challenges to earn your next clue. Teams will cover about 3-4 miles and finish in about 3 hours. You are welcome to run or walk and this event is not timed. Participants must be 21. Proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run Heart of Kansas.

■ Battle of the Bands | April 13
Where: WAVE
CASA of Sedgwick County is a non-profit that was founded in 1981. They train community members to advocate for children in the foster care system that have been abused and/or neglected. There are currently over 1,300 children in foster care in Sedgwick County that could use a CASA on their side. We currently have 50 trained advocates. Funds raised at this benefit will go to recruiting, training and supporting advocates, so that we can help more children.

■ The Masters: Mozart + Mahler | April 13

■ When Doves Cry – The Prince Tribute Show | April 13

An exciting and dynamic live concert experience, “When Doves Cry – The Prince Tribute Show” is a multi-talented 9-piece Tribute Show to the music of Prince. With a song list of over 100 Prince songs (and growing), we can guarantee there’s something in our show for both the casual and the die hard Prince fans. If you love the music of Prince, this is a must-see show.

■ Indigenous Narratives Through Art: A Presentation with Taiomah Rutledge | April 14
Where: 
Derby Public Library
Taiomah Rutledge, a First Nation artist belonging to the Ojibwe, Meskwaki and Dakota people, presents a showing and discussion of his work with ink, digital media, eco-printing and serigraphy using various substrates like old ledgers, watercolor and Bristol paper. Taiomah, co-founder of the Warclan Art Collective, will also share his journey as a First Nations artist and the evolution of his story through art.

■ Masters Tournament Watch Party | April 14

Hopping Gnome Brewing Company
Join us at the Gnome to watch the final round of the 2024 Masters Golf Tournament! We’ll have a giant TV out on the patio for viewing and some cool Hopping Gnome golf merch we’ve been waiting to release for all you Gnomie golfers!
