Late last year, a new food truck opened in Wichita called No Ragrets – Vegan Scratch Kitchen.

It is a family owned and operated food trailer serving homemade plant based and vegan comfort food.

While I’m not a vegan, I make it a point to still visit all the eateries around town despite what anybody serves.

No Ragrets – Vegan Scratch Kitchen has been on my list for quite some time, and I was finally able to stop by when they were parked at the Sedgwick County Extension Office.

The menu featured a burger, Po Boy sandwich, meatball sub, quesadilla and a chicky sandwich.

I went with the MacDaddy Cheezeburger which was a plant-based patty, cheeze, lettuce, pickle, onion, and mac sauce. For an additional $4, I added some hand cut fries.

The burger itself was good. But that’s about where I would draw the line, and that’s not a knock on the burger, it’s simply because I’m a greasy, unhealthy burger aficionado. It’s all based on my food preference. I’ve had my fair share of plant-based patties and have found them to be all similar and sometimes reliant on the extra dressings such as the mac sauce in this case.

For the fries, I would have preferred a little more salt or different seasoning over the top.

During my visit, I was joined by fellow local food blogger, Fert the Foodie, who had the chicky sandwich.

This was a much better offering in my opinion. While the chicky sandwich was softer in texture, it tasted just like a fried chicken sandwich. While I only had a single bite, I liked what my taste buds were enjoying.
