Sneak peek inside Larcher’s Market at Happiness Plaza

On April 4, something new is coming to Happiness Plaza in College Hill. Larcher’s Market will open their doors to the public. Brought to you by the owners of The Belmont and additional partners, this new market/restaurant will focus on comfort food that is available for dine-in or carryout. You can also expect a full coffee bar with espresso, lattes, etc…, wine, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic cocktails.

I dropped in before the grand opening to get a sneak peek at what you can expect.

Full transparency, I was invited to a soft opening event where the food was complimentary. Tips were not accepted either, although, I did sneak a tip on my table as I left since it just felt like the right thing to do despite them vocally stating no tips. But due to the complimentary event, it also felt right to avoid reviewing the food and instead give you an idea of what you can expect to see inside Larcher’s Market. Then save a full-fledged review for after they open for paying customers.

One of the first things you’ll notice as you walk inside and turn to your left is a little retail section that is dedicated to locally grown produce, deli case, and locally made products as well as neighborhood memorabilia.

At the center of Larcher’s Market is the counter to order where you’ll also find display cases filled with desserts and pastries.

To your right is the full coffee bar and entrance to the main area for seating.

If you remember the pop-up bar Sparky’s that was inside the space, they converted the area to offer seating for patrons of Larcher’s Market.

Then, of course, there’s the restaurant portion of Larcher’s Market.

The menu features all day breakfast and a selection of sandwiches and salads after 11 a.m.

At the recommendation of other customers and some staff, I ordered a dish from the breakfast menu along with the lunch menu.

The first dish was the crispy chicken biscuit with poblano sausage gravy, cheddar, pico de gallo and a sunny side up egg.

From the lunch menu, I had the the teriyaki battered mushrooms quinoa bowl.

After leaving, I couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of those who live in College Hill or the surrounding area. Happiness Plaza, Clifton Square, etc. all seem to be vibrant and growing. It’s cool to have multiple options you can walk or bicycle to if you’re nearby.

Larcher’s Market just adds to the allure of the neighborhood and I think will be a wonderful addition.
