A food review at the JV track meet at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Track Meet

Another JV track meet called for a quick food review at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

This was the first time I can recall being back at the school. Graduating from Kapaun Mt. Carmel, this was the rival high school and unfortunately, I watched my alma mater suffer many losses at Bishop Carroll.

Decades later, I made a return to 8101 W Central Ave to watch one of the kids run in a track meet.

I avoided eating lunch to save room for what was to come at the concession stand.

Bishop Carroll had one of the most elaborate and impressive looking grills I’ve seen at a school getting the burgers, brats and hot dogs ready.

The snack selection was a little limited compared to other schools. It was cotton candy, jerky, sour punch, Skittles, Airheads, Snickers, Twix, and M&Ms.

It was similar with the chips where it was limited to Lays, Cheetos, and Doritos.

My daughter went with a ring pop and Skittles, while the boss lady went with peanut M&Ms.

I went with the brat.

The brat had a ton of char on it, which I enjoy anyway. It’s nice to have a little of that crunch in each bite. Admittedly, it was a little salty… or maybe it’s just me being salty from the years of watching Kapaun lose to Bishop Carroll.

In all seriousness, it was a really good brat, nice and plump.

My daughter went to town on the candy, and I’m pretty sure she’s running up and down the walls like you see kids do in horror movies from the sugar rush.

The only criticism for the concession stand was the lack of chip selection. Having something like Cool Ranch Doritos, Funyuns, Fritos, BBQ anything would have been nice.

Otherwise, it was quite the set up at Bishop Carroll and the lines moved quickly.

But to make matters worse, our kid lost to Bishop Carroll in his race. Sad.
