First look at The Kitchen’s second location on north Oliver

One of Wichita’s beloved local restaurants, The Kitchen, has expanded with a second location in the former Railhoppers space at 3622 Oliver. The new restaurant in north Wichita is the latest addition to an area of town that’s starting to grow with more additions in the near future.

And if you have never heard of The Kitchen, their original location can be found in downtown Wichita at 725 E. Douglas Ave.

Some renovations were made inside of The Kitchen, such as a fresh coat of paint which gave it a warmer feel. I liked the subtle changes, but let’s move on to the real reason why you’re reading…. the food.

The menu at The Kitchen is essentially the same as the original location minus a couple of things. For now, there aren’t any new additions, but the intention is to include new dishes as the restaurant gets acclimated over time.

My buddy started with the disco fries, which were crispy fries, chicken, light gravy, and fresh mozzarella. It’s basically like poutine fries and one of my favorite appetizers around town. I love the putting my fork in and getting fries, chicken, gravy, and cheese all in one bite.

For my main dish, I had the Spicy Yum Yum Buddha bowl. It comes with your choice of protein and I went with chicken. From there it included steamed rice, sautéed zucchini, red bell pepper, mushrooms, and chicken in spicy chili crunch oil with red cabbage, and Yum-Yum sauce.

SUCH a delicious dish at The Kitchen. It was one of those meals where you started taking bites and couldn’t stop. Before you knew it, the bowl was nearly empty, and you wanted to lick it clean. The Yum-Yum sauce was a thing of beauty with tons of flavor but enough heat to make it worthwhile for everyone. Another positive about this Buddha bowl was the portion size. It was the right size to fill me up but avoid the bloating sensation a heavier meal provides. This was perfect for lunch.

I had a fantastic time at The Kitchen and my buddy really enjoyed his meal as well. For what it’s worth, he ordered the chicken and waffles.

Here’s the menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
