Wichita’s first Hawaiian Bros. is headed to 13th and Greenwich this fall

Last year, it was announced that the city’s first Hawaiian Bros. was coming to Wichita.

Since then, people have been curious as to where the Hawaiian chain would open the first location in town.

In a news release shared Tuesday afternoon and also covered by the Wichita Business Journal, a spokesperson for Laham Development confirmed Hawaiian Bros. will be opening at 13th and Greenwich in the Plazzio development.

The popular development at the southeast corner of 13th and Greenwich is also home to Chicken N Pickle, Regal Theatres, UMI Japanese Steak House, The Alley, among other entertainment options.

It is expected to open later this year.

And if you’re one of those people who is upset that east Wichita always gets everything, don’t fret. Word is a second Hawaiian Bros. location is in the works.

Those who haven’t been, Hawaiian Bros is a Kansas City-based chain specializing in plate lunch, a meal that usually includes a scoop of white rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and meat like Kalua pork or grilled chicken. The meal became popular in Hawaii in the late 1800s, when workers would make plates of leftover meat and rice.
