Harry’s Uptown Bar & Grill Revisited

Harry's Uptown Bar and Grill

There’s a little bar and grill at the southwest corner of Douglas and Hillside called Harry’s Uptown Bar & Grill.

It’s a place I’ve been to countless times, especially when I lived out east and mostly during the evening. If there was a poll for the stiffest drinks in town, Harry’s just might get my vote. But how about the food? It was time to finally revisit the bar and grill.

I decided to swing over for lunch by myself and had my heart set on at least two dishes. After asking my server what I should get from the burger menu and the sandwich menu, we settled upon two recommendations: The Harry’s Classic Club and the Uptown Burger.

Starting off with the Uptown Burger, it was topped with Canadian bacon and plenty of American cheese. It was a full 1/2 pound; plenty of meat to make sure you don’t go hungry after leaving… or enough to soak up those stiff drinks.

So here’s my take on the burger. My preference for burgers are the thick, juicy greasy burgers, and I’ve never found that to be the case at Harry’s Uptown Bar & Grill. Theirs runs a little on the drier side and thinner. I know Harry’s has plenty of fans and their style of burger fits many people’s taste buds. I’ve tried the burger plenty of times wondering if it would grow on me, and it just doesn’t. Furthermore, I’m not saying it’s a bad burger because I do think it’s seasoned well, it’s just not for me.

What I did love was the Harry’s Classic Club with a mountain of turkey, ham and bacon. This is a meal you could probably split with another person over lunch. It’s such a simple yet well executed sandwich that I’d certainly get any time I visit Harry’s.

And lastly, raise your hand if you’ve spent hours on the patio?

Here’s their menu:
