Checking out Frozen at the Music Theatre Wichita

Disney's Frozen

For the last five years, I’ve been raising what feels like one of the biggest Disney’s Frozen fans. We’ve watched the movie probably a hundred times and listened to the soundtrack in the car possibly thousands of times.

When Music Theatre Wichita reached out about getting the rights to Frozen here in Wichita a little under a year ago, this performance has been on my calendar for quite a while.

Disney’s Frozen is at Century II from July 5-7 and 10-14. It’s a two-week performance with multiple shows also taking place on July 7 and 13.

The show is rated G and runs 2 hours and 15 minutes.

If you’ve been living under a rock and have no idea what the show is about:

Experience the enchantment of Disney’s Frozen live on stage, where the classic tale of love, friendship, and discovery comes to life. Join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and their friends in a visually stunning production filled with iconic music, amazing sets, and must-see costumes. Feel the magic of Frozen and create cherished memories with your loved ones at the regional premiere of this global sensation.

Big thanks to Music Theatre Wichita who provided my family with some complimentary tickets to attend. There were people of all ages in attendance, and many dressed as their favorite Frozen characters. I was a lazy #GirlDad and didn’t get mine dressed up. In hindsight, I should have worn an Olaf costume.

The show itself was outstanding. All the popular songs from the movie were mixed in with new songs from the Broadway performance.

While I’m not a performing arts critic, probably my favorite performer of the show was the lady who played Anna. She was played by Aubrey Matalon and had a fantastic voice, also probably the funniest character. I loved her witty lines in her dialogue.

Meanwhile, my daughter was loving Sven.

I’ve made it no secret that I love plays and musicals. It’s something I aspired to do until I realized I had zero acting ability outside of pretending to be a writer.

If you too love theater or have kids who are obsessed with Frozen, check this one out from Music Theatre Wichita while it’s here.
