A new restaurant has opened in the former Chopstix space at 1615 E. 61st St. N in Park City. Thai Kitchen & Sushi keeps the Asian flavors going in the Wichita suburb.
The menu features touches of Laos, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine as well.

With a decently sized menu at Thai Kitchen & Sushi, I struggled with what I wanted to get for my first visit.
I figured it might be worthwhile to just order a small spread for myself.
In the end I went with a Laos style papaya salad, stir-fry basil sauce and a sushi rock special roll.
Let’s start with my favorite of the three dishes. The stir-fry basil sauce was excellent and it was a massive amount of food coming in two containers. The main portion was the actual basil sauce which came with my choice of protein; pork in my instance. And then a heaping portion of rice.
All the dishes could be ordered in heat levels ranging from 1 to 5. You never know with Thai restaurants how hot their scale is so I went with 3 to be safe. And even at 3, I had zero heat. The dish was still sweet and savory, but I would have liked just a tad bit of heat to it.
From there, I enjoyed both the papaya salad and the sushi.
Most people are probably used to the Thai-style papaya salad, but if you haven’t had Laos style, give it a try. It’s almost the opposite in flavor; it’s more bold and savory with a pungent aftertaste to it.
And the sushi came with thick chunks of salmon and tuna inside. After a few pieces, I was stuffed especially with my other two dishes.
Final Thoughts on Thai Kitchen & Sushi:
I see Thai Kitchen & Sushi as a need that’s filled and a win for Park City. There aren’t too many ethnic options in the city, so hopefully it receives a warm welcome from the residents.
If people don’t like Thai food, there are options like pho on the menu as well. I noticed the sushi menu was also designed as “safe” meaning their specialty rolls feature lots of California and tempura-based rolls. They don’t go too far off base with rolls that might turn off those who may not be too adventurous with their eating.
The service was very friendly. It had the vibe of a family-owned restaurant who greeted and appreciated everyone who walked in the doors. No surprise cause that’s exactly what it is.
