Full transparency, I was invited out to a private soft opening ahead of the grand opening where food was complimentary. Because no money was exchanged, I will not be reviewing the food and instead, give readers an idea of what to expect. My longstanding policy continues where I prefer to only review food that I paid for and am fully invested in, like a paying customer, to remove any potential bias because of this conflict of interest.

There’s plenty of seating inside the brand-new Dave’s Hot Chicken. A spacious uncovered patio is available to the south of the building. And something to note is there’s not drive-thru.

If you’ve never been to Dave’s Hot Chicken, it’s obviously all things chicken where the menu is made up of Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and sliders along with sides and shakes.

My first meal was complimentary so as stated earlier, I won’t be reviewing the food as it’s not fair to review food I didn’t pay for.

I was given a Dave’s Big Trio that included mini sliders, hot mozz, and Dave’s bites (aka chicken tenders). They also gave me the kale slaw and mac n cheese.

One thing about Dave’s Hot Chicken is you can order the heat level with seven different options ranging from Not Hot all the way to Reaper. I went in the middle at medium and didn’t find that to be spicy at all but it could be totally different for someone else. I’ve had hot before and it’s a decent level of heat.

I have yet to try Reaper though because I like being able to make it through the day with no stomach cramps.

This isn’t my first or second visit to a Dave’s Hot Chicken. I’ve been to locations in Georgia and Colorado.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the Nashville-style hot chicken. There’s a lot of options when it comes to chicken in town so it’ll be interesting to see the reception this restaurant gets over the course of the next few months.

So far the place has been busy as expected given Wichita’s love affair with new chains coming to town.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
