Pinole Blue’s pink tortillas to benefit Susan G. Komen for breast cancer awareness month

Surely by now you’ve heard of Pinole Blue. They are the local company that has been making the blue tortillas that many restaurants around town have been using like Los Compadres and Taco Locale, and El Viejito Mexican Restaurant.

Pinole Blue has been making not just the blue tortillas but also drink mixes and cookies made of blue corn freshly ground at their location at 242 N Cleveland.

Their unique look is about to get even more unique. For the month of October, they are going to produce pink tortillas with 10% of all of those sales going to the local Susan G. Komen foundation. For those that know me, breast cancer awareness has always been near and dear to my heart as it hit my mother over ten years ago. So causes like this tug at my heartstrings then to accompany it with food tugs at my appetite. It’s a win-win.

Many restaurants around town will be using these pink tortillas such as:

  • El Viejito Mexican Restaurant (4722 S Broadway)
  • Taco Locale (2721 E Central Ave)
  • Public at the Brickyard (129 N Rock Island)
  • District Taqueria (917 E Douglas)
  • Los Compadres Mexican Grill (3213 N Toben)

You can also purchase these pink tortillas for yourself at their storefront at 242 N Cleveland and at GreenAcres or Taco Locale at Revolutsia.
