Viola’s Pantry to close for good at the end of the year

Back in 2021, Viola’s Pantry opened at 156 N. Cleveland at Cleveland Corner.

The storefront for Viola’s Pantry was a mixture of all things food. There was a retail store, it was a place to get educated about making pastas, there were grab and go meals like homemade pastas and sauces.

Over the years, I’ve been a handful of times and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, some good things come to an end.

Viola’s Pantry announced on Instagram that they will be closing for good on December 31. In a long, heartfelt letter, owner Kristina Grappo, shared the reasons why:

We’ve got some bittersweet news for y’all Wichita… like many small businesses in town, the last year has been a tough one for us. Add on a move to Phoenix and a difficult pregnancy, it’s been challenging to run the Wichita location of Viola’s Pantry during this tough financial time. Because of this, we will be shutting down our physical location as of December 31st.

Since I moved to Phoenix in June, my staff- Teresa and Kelsey, and then Autumn whom we’ve added in the fall, have run this shop better than I could ever have imagined. I feel so blessed to have these three incredible women who have loved this business like their own, who I trust implicitly, and who have become dear friends. If you are a business hiring in January, I could not recommend these women enough!

As of the fate of VP, this is certainly not the last you’ll see of us. We will be bringing this business to Phoenix, in my backyard (literally) and bringing the market online and working towards becoming a consumer packaged goods business- a dream I have always had for Viola’s.

If you have a gift card with us, you are welcome to use it throughout the rest of the year, we will continue to hold classes in January in our location to accommodate everyone, AND they will still be eligible for use once I am off maternity leave in the spring.

I’d like to give the warmest of thank yous to this community. You embraced me, my family, and my food in a time when I most needed it, and have taught me so much. I will forever be indebted to the Wichita community for what y’all did to make my dreams come true.

We are simply on to the next chapter of Viola’s Pantry, and I hope you will continue along with us for this journey!! Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏼

Happiest of holidays to you all,

Kristina

While it’s not technically the end of the road for Viola’s Pantry, what we know them as right now will be entirely different (and miles away).

If you’ve enjoyed them, you will definitely want to get in before they close on New Year’s Eve.
