What to expect at Sur La Table

Sur La Table

Sur La Table

The grand opening of Sur La Table is set for Saturday, June 1.

The new retail chain is located at 2000 N. Rock Road in the former Banana Republic space.

There’s been a big debate on how you pronounce the name. Or if you’re an oblivious person like myself, you may think it’s Sur La Table, but you’re wrong. From a pure French pronunciation, it’s “sir lah taab-leh”. But if you’re asking those working in the stores, I was told, “sir lah taab”. What I can tell you with 100% confidence, is it’s not what you think it looks like with the word table pronounced like an actual table.

Sur La Tab which is French for “on the table” is a retail store that sells kitchenware, including cookware, cutlery, small electrics, table top and linens, bakeware, glassware, housewares, food, and even offers cooking classes and hands – on demos.

The Wichita location will have a kitchen on site for its classes, but it wasn’t ready during our visit. People can sign up for classes which are taught by the in-house chef. Or they can also host a class using the room.

There’s literally thousands upon thousands of things to browse through.

There are also specials located throughout the store such as “buy two, get one free” tools.

There are many stations within Sur La Table where you can demo the item. For instance, they had a number of espresso machines with staff offering hands on demos to see it in action.

While the grand opening isn’t until June 1, shoppers can still stop by before.

Hours for Sur La Table are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
