I have not been back to Tanker BBQ Co. since they completed renovations to their space at 620 W. Maple St.
Everytime I stopped by, there was still work to be done, but this latest visit was basically all finished.

I remember first going to Tanker BBQ Co. when they moved into their current space. It was completely empty, with no seating and a makeshift table for the food.
The new modern look was great to see. I’ve been going to Tanker BBQ when it was a small little pop-up space so to see the growth and change for them has been incredible.
For my visit back, I literally said, I’ll take a bit of everything. So they presented me a little sampler platter that came in under $50. One things for sure, there were going to be leftovers.
To kick things off, I dove into the meatloaf and it was classic quality meatloaf. It was slightly sweet, had a smoky aftertaste, and was rich and savory after it was all said and done. It wasn’t too crumbly like some places or not tightly packed. Easy to cut into with a fork and about filled me up.
Check that. It did fill me up. I was able to manage one slice of brisket which was rather heavenly; juicy and tender; just how brisket should be in my opinion.
I dabbled in the sides a bit, but to be completely honest, I was too full to think.
Everything was taken home including my Texas Twinkies which I never had the chance to try because one of the kids ate them.
Final Thoughts on Tanker BBQ. Co.:
Wichita has some fantastic BBQ options and I really think Tanker BBQ Co. is one of those overlooked, perhaps underrated establishments in town. Sitting right across the street from the baseball stadium, this should make a great pre-game or post-game stop.
