Rocket Fizz opened their doors to the Wichita public over a week ago. My family and I stopped in over Labor Day weekend to see what this national franchise that specializes in soda and candy was all about.

Rocket Fizz is located at the Village at Greenwich near the northeast corner of 21st and Greenwich next door to uBreakiFix. The store carries hundreds of different flavors of soda along with old fashioned candy including a multitude of different salt-water taffy flavors.
Let’s start with the sodas.
The sodas can be found against all the walls inside Rocket Fizz. There’s the Rocket Fizz brand of sodas along with different brands and types from everywhere. For the adult readers, imagine walking into Goebel Liquor and browsing through hundreds of different beers. It’s like that but with soda here. Nearly every flavor you can imagine is here, it’s ridiculous.
There’s ginger ale, root beer, cream soda all the way to barf, bacon, popcorn, butter flavored soda. You name it, they have it including pickle flavored soda. A majority of the bottles run $2.29 a piece. They are discounted in bulk at 4 for $7.99 or 6 for $10.99.
We purchased a few bottles including bacon flavored soda which seemed like the obvious choice. My coworkers and I tried out the soda very cautiously. To put it nicely, it was not a hot but something that rhymed with hit. Imagine a watered down bacon bit.
Now how about the salt-water taffy?
While there’s a bunch of bulk candy like available, the focus is on the salt-water taffy. There are over 90 different flavors to choose from like fruit punch, maple bacon, watermelon, blueberry muffin, mango, red velvet, s’mores, pistachio, carrot cake, I could go on and on. The best part? They allow you to sample some of the flavors.
The taffy runs $6.99 for a small bag or $8.99 for a big bag. You can fill the bags with as much taffy as you can fit inside. The kids (and adults) had so much fun going down the aisle and finding whatever random flavors sounded appealing.

Lastly, there’s an assortment of old fashioned candy, classic candies, fun candies, gag gifts, tin signs, and many other surprises at Rocket Fizz. They also have a ton of different Pez dispensers if you’re a collector of those.
It’s a fun little shop that had something for everyone. I’ll for sure be returning to purchase some different flavored soda pops.
N Sync asked an age old question years ago: “Sick and tired of hearing all these people talk about. What’s the deal with this pop life and when is it gonna fade out”.
The answer is probably “Never.”
