Wichita By E.B. was created in February 2011. So next month will be the 8-year anniversary of what simply started out as a small little way to journal restaurant adventures just for friends to read. Over the last eight years, I’ve eaten at over 700 different places. Throughout that time, the one question that gets asked more than any other is, “What is your favorite restaurant?”
I’m never prepared to answer it. For me, there are just way too many to name but it’s something I’ve always wanted to answer in blog form in some fashion. I also never really wanted to put out a list until I’ve had a chance to eat at a huge majority of the places in town. Well considering I left around twenty restaurants in Wichita I have yet to try, it may be time.
Over the last couple weeks, I’ve been reading old reviews, looking at the complete list of restaurants in Wichita and have been narrowing down my favorite fifty restaurants in the city. It’s been tough. There are still some places I need to get out to until I’m comfortable with the finalized product.
For this list, I’ve focused strictly on restaurants with established locations. Secondly, I’ve also stuck with just restaurants in the Wichita city limits. And lastly, I’ve opened this up to all restaurants in the town regardless if they were locally owned, chains, or whatever. Supporting local restaurants is always key for me but good food can still be had at some other options in town too.
Pairing it down to just fifty hasn’t been easy so far, it’s sure to draw some criticism but I wanted to think of something fun to read as Wichita By E.B. celebrates eight years in February. For all I know the list could very end up being 51, 52 or 53! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
