A question I’ll receive occasionally is where to get Peking duck in Wichita. That question recently came from a family member as well who went on the hunt for some for our Christmas lunch.
She settled on Lucky Market and it was a big hit for the duck lovers.
Come to find out they have duck only on Saturday and Sunday. There’s a limited quantity so you may have to get there early. We picked ours up at 10am and it’s all precooked and packed in one of those Styrofoam to-go containers.
A single duck was $25 and the picture above was two ducks which was enough to feed roughly 15+ people at our potluck.
Upon placing it all out, there was an aromatic smell that filled the kitchen. The skin was slightly crispy, a little sweet and rich in flavor. Tender, juicy pieces of meat with some fat was hiding underneath and worth all the work while messing with the bones.
The duck made for a great feature dish at Christmas and one we’ll likely order again.
