There’s not much I appreciate in our dining community than those who spread love in the name of food. The locally owned Kelly’s Family Diner is doing just that for Thanksgiving.

While they were open last year on the holiday, they announced they would be closed this year. Even with that news, they wanted to give back. So, owner, Kelly Wilson, purchased ten full turkeys and gave them out to families affected by COVID-19 or anybody just down on their luck this year.

She already purchased the turkeys, prepared them and distributed all the food to families, no questions asked.

When she gave me a heads up on her plans, I wanted to do my part and stopped by the grocery store to pick a couple of birds and dropped them off. I told some others and they donated a handful more. Another local restaurant, Buster’s Burger Joint, recently donated six turkeys as well to the cause.

If you would like to donate a turkey, you can by dropping them off at the restaurant at 2131 S. Broadway.
