Our favorite addition of the year: Blackstone Griddle

Last year for my birthday, I received a 28-inch Blackstone Griddle cooking station with a hard cover. It was probably the most beloved addition to our family over the past year.

I was wanting one for a while, but was told we have too many grills and “cooking toys”. Many other people told me that, “you can never have too many grills”. I shared the feedback probably every day until the boss lady caved in and surprised me for my birthday.

She purchased me the 28-inch despite there being a bigger 36-inch one, but the smaller version was more than enough for our family.

With 448 square inches of cooking spread out on a rolled carbon 10-gauge steel griddle top, it was all the room we needed to provide many breakfasts, lunches and dinners at home. The service is big enough for 44 hot dogs, which is nice, but we don’t intend to have any hot dog eating competitions for a while.

Our Blackstone came with 34,000 BTU’s of heat from two H-style burners, which is over my head. All I know is there are two nobs for heat control, and gets as hot as I need. Two commercial caster wheels make it easy to maneuver around our garage and patio, the propane tank fastener keeps the tank on secure, and two shelves give me plenty of room to store whatever I need while grilling away like a pro.

One of the BEST features about the Blackstone is how easy it is to clean. It’s essentially scraping and wiping. The grease all goes into a rear management system that’s easy to dispose of. Seriously, I can’t speak enough about how easy it is to clean once you’re done. It just might be my favorite aspect about the griddle.

Over the past eight months since we’ve owned it, we have made fried rice, omelettes, pancakes, eggs, fajitas, smash burgers, lo mein, steak, chicken stir-fry and more.

Of course, anybody who loves to grill may want to accessorize. Here are the favorite accessories that we’ve purchased and use consistently.

Blackstone Hard Top Lid
This came with our griddle, but we are big fans of the hard top lid, which helps protect the griddle and prevent rust.

Basting Cover
This is perfect for cooking vegetables, which we do often.

Griddle Cleaning Kit
These wipe down the griddle with ease, making cleaning the top a breeze. Yes, I rhymed that out on purpose.

Tool Holder Combo
Whether you’re using tongs, spatulas, any other utensils, these holders give you a convenient place to hold them while you tend to other things.

Cover
The name brand covers were sold out everywhere, so we saved some money and purchased an off-brand cover which has done the job so far for the times we have to keep it outside.

We’ve used our griddle every month, even in this cold winter. We only have good things to say about it and highly recommend this purchase.
