One event, I completely forgot about and wish I had remembered to help spread the word was Newman’s Cultural Extravaganza. It was held on campus at 3100 W. McCormick on Saturday afternoon (March 26) from 1 to 4 p.m.
I was out running errands and saw it come across my feed Saturday, and I decided to quickly stop by to check it out.
The event was put on by students for students and the community. They had many restaurants support the event, donate food and sponsor the whole extravaganza. Performers were representing different countries and organizations to give attendees more information on cultures and each organization’s missions.
There was a buffet inside that had different countries represented by an assortment of dishes to choose from.
While I was only able to stop by briefly, it looked like a great time. The turnout was fantastic, and the weather was extremely cooperative.
After looking into it more and asking questions, it appears this was the 5th annual event. I need to put a reminder on my calendar for next year to get a better in-depth look.
