When it comes to holidays, my friends know that Earth Day is my favorite of them all. One of the big events taking place is being hosted by Firefly Farm.
Firefly Farm, located at 15615 E 21st Street North, is back in action for the spring. They are kicking off the season with an Earth Day Plant Sale on Friday, April 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. . In addition to heirloom seed starts in premium potting mix, guests can also buy cut flowers from Grace Gardens.
Oh and there’s food! You can grab a sandwich from Viola’s Pantry, a specialty limeade from Falling Star or a coffee from Sunflower Espresso.
There’s a Facebook event you can check out for more information.
If you’ve never heard of Firefly Farm, they launched a wholesale, commercial growing operation in 2015 with an extensive offering of heirloom tomatoes and a few other summer crops. Selling to just three restaurants that first year, the organically grown produce developed a dedicated following in the Wichita, local food community. In the intervening years, the farm has added extensively to our list of available produce, and they now grow year-round. Numerous additional local eateries have joined our satisfied customer list over the years and they are proud to supply them.
They also have some big things coming up this summer with the introduction of RISE Farms in downtown Wichita. Stay tuned for more information on that.
