Wichita Wind Surge sold to new owners, Diamond Baseball Holdings

There will be new ownership for the Wichita Wind Surge. News broke yesterday that the Wind Surge has been sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings, a group that operates 10 other minor league baseball clubs around the country.

The sale which is expected to be completed by the end of the year will include the transfer of the Riverfront Stadium Facility Use and Management Agreement to Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH). It, however, will not mean that DBH will take on the team’s deal to develop the area surrounding Riverfront Stadium. That will stay with the original group.

Big changes and improvements are expected when the Wind Surge take the field next season. What those are have yet to be announced. My fingers remained cross that this can be a win for our city.
