Ten Events Worth Checking Out In April

April is here and as the weather begins to get nicer, that means more events in town. I’ve decided to handpick ten events I think will be worthwhile this month. Many of these are just one-time events that won’t take place again so you don’t want to miss out!

Thursday, April 6
Brew Bash 
Where:
 Chicken N Pickle
Join us for a beer tasting event benefiting League 42! We will have multiple beer vendors placed around our property for you to try! There will be live music for a jamming good time! $30 per person and includes your donation to League 42, Beer tasting, Beer Cheese Slider, Tater tots, and more! Free Cornhole tournament to follow, entry available to anyone at the event.

Saturday, April 8
ICT Block Party 
Where:
 WAVE
Join us as we bring you all back the days when a party outside was the best vibe!!! ️FREE FOR ALL AGES️ Saturday April 8th 3pm to 9pm at WAVE, right in the heart of the city. Food Trucks. Vendor Booths. PBS Kids Zone and More.

Monday, April 10
Behind The Bar: Guest Bartending at the Monarch 
Where:
 The Monarch
The Monarch is back with a second round of Behind The Bar: Guest Bartending at The Monarch! As is the custom, they’ve invited someone in the community to work the bar and raise money for a charity that is near and dear to their hearts. This time it’s yours truly. I’ll be slinging drinks at The Monarch this Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. I’m also bringing along a friend to help, Taben Azad, the president of the Wichita Asian Association, who will be the benefactor of the tips. Come join a night of fun and watch me mess up behind the bar.

Home Opener for the Wichita Wind Surge

April 15 – 16
The Great Plains Renaissance & Scottish Festival 
Where:
 Sedgwick County Park
Hail and well met! Join us for the Annual Spring Great Plains Renaissance Festival, April 15th & 16th, 2023. There’ll be jousts and jests, knights and knaves, bagpipes and blacksmiths, fire breathers, pirates, fairies, and more! Come one, come all to the Great Plains Renaissance Festival! HUZZAH!

Sunday, April 16
Open Streets ICT: WSU & Shocker Neighborhood 
Where:
 17th Street from Oliver to Grove
Join us this Spring for Open Streets ICT – WSU in Shocker Neighborhood! This FREE neighborhood community-building event will take place along 17th Street, just south of Wichita State University and will host a full day of physical activity, food trucks, music and fun! ​Two miles of 17th Street will be closed to traffic from Oliver to Grove and open for biking, walking, running, food, and more! There will be a route south on Yale connecting you to Fairmount Park and a route north on Volutsia connecting you to Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center where additional activities are being held. Cruise along the along the 2-mile stretch on 17th Street and stop at participating shops, businesses and food vendors along the route.

April 20
Wine About Cancer
Where: Brick & Mortar
Thursday, April 20th will be the seventh annual Wine About Cancer to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the local families they support. 🎟️All tickets include a Riedel wine glass, unlimited sampling of over 30 wines, local bites, beer and signature cocktails, a cigar deck, silent auction, and the after party from 10-11 PM. Cocktail attire requested. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

April 20 – 22
NOR/20-5th Anniversary Bash
Where: Nortons Brewing Company
5 YEARS!! Thank you, Wichita for your continued support! We’re gonna throw a weekend long rager for ya, starting on Thursday-4/20 and keep the party going through Saturday night!
•Beer releases all 3 days
•Return of the frozen sour beer slushies
•Live Music Thursday, Friday, Saturday!
•Could be baby goats and fire performers and all kinds of crazy shit!

April 27 & 29
2023 Midwest Winefest
Where: Old Town
Midwest Winefest is Wichita’s premier wine and food festival! This year we will host the Old Town Walkabout and the Reserve Room events. Proceeds benefit the Guadalupe Health Foundation, whose primary beneficiary is the patients of Guadalupe Clinic. Guadalupe Clinic provides compassionate health care to people without health insurance in our community.

Saturday, April 29
ICT Brunch Fest 
Where:
 O.J. Watson Park
Brunch Fest is Wichita’s fun new event created to showcase our super cool and unique Brunch Scene. Brunch Fest includes a curated and diverse list of 15 local restaurants, caterers, and food trucks showcasing a variety of delicious bites. Each establishment will be serving 1 to 2 different items, which will provide a plethora of options. Attendees can also enjoy Brunch Beverages such as Mimosas, Sangria, Tequila Sunrise and Coffee while supplies last.
