Within a month’s time, Wichita will have a new donut shop in town. Sugar Llamas will be celebrating their grand opening on Saturday, August 5.
The mini-doughnut business is a chain started in Tulsa, OK and has been growing over the past two years. The latest expansion comes to Wichita, where it will be locally owned by Kimberly Mallon.
You can find Sugar Llamas at 841 N. Tyler in the same strip center as Shape’n It Up Nutrition and Allpak Battery.
Fun is part of the experience with llama themed decor all over their stores. Those who stop by their grand opening can expect real llamas as well. Those who can’t wait for August 5, keep your eyes peeled as there is a tentative soft opening set for next week. The best way to find out the actual day is to follow Sugar Llamas on Facebook.
Then, once they are open, there are multiple ways to enjoy mini doughnuts at Sugar Llamas. You can have them plain, sprinkled with flavors like powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or cocoa. There are also an assortment of toppings and drizzles including lemon, Nutella, caramel, strawberry, cherry, banana, blueberry, chocolate and more.
There’s more to be had as the donut shop will also serve ice cream and coffee drinks. The drive-through will also be open for business.
We did get a sneak peek at the mini doughnuts over the weekend. If you’re curious about the flavors we had, here they are in order from left to right:
- Sopapilla, Bamberry (blueberry lemon), Fruity Pebbles (vanilla and fruity Pebbles), Boss Hogg (Maple and bacon), Coco Nana (chocolate and banana), Key Lime Pie, Cotton Candy, Strawberry Shortcake, Cookies and Cream, and Chocolate Chip Pancake.
There were 100 mini-doughnuts for my family to sample. We weren’t cut out for the job, so neighbors, friends, and family joined in to help. They were a massive hit for the kids, which was no surprise given the sugar!
I have made it no secret, I’m a big fan of mini-doughnuts. The ability to order different flavors and not have to focus on just one big regular donut is a big allure for me. First world problems, right? The general consensus was very popular for the mini-doughnuts as I passed them around. Plus, it gave me brownie points with the nearby neighbors.
Keep an eye out for Sugar Llamas as their opening date is just weeks away!
Happy Dining,
Eddy
