Hawaiian Bros is coming to Wichita as part of a new locally owned restaurant group

Have you ever been to a Hawaiian Bros restaurant before? If not, you will have an easier chance soon as it was announced the Hawaiian chain will be expanding to Wichita, KS.

In a press release put out Thursday morning, Hawaiian Bros signed its fourth franchise agreement with Ohana Restaurant Group LLC, owned/operated by Zach Fugate and cousins Nick and Nathan Blasi, in May 2023. The newly formed Ohana Restaurant Group LLC will develop seven additional Hawaiian Bros restaurants across four markets.

Zach Fugate is no stranger to the Wichita restaurant scene, as he leads the Pizza Hut division of Fugate Enterprises. Based in Wichita, KS. Fugate Enterprises operates approximately 150 Pizza Hut and 75 Taco Bells across multiple states.

Fugate along with his partners, Nick and Nathan Blasi, will develop restaurants in the following markets: Wichita, KSJoplin and Springfield, MO; and the Arkansas cities of BentonvilleFayettevilleRogersSpringdale, and Ft. Smith.

Nick and Nathan Blasi also operate Marine World in Wichita.

Hawaiian Bros is a Kansas City-based chain specializing in plate lunch, a meal that usually includes a scoop of white rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and meat like Kalua pork or grilled chicken. The meal became popular in Hawaii in the late 1800s, when workers would make plates of leftover meat and rice. Just drive up to the Kansas City area and you’ll find plenty of locations.

No timetable was shared on when Hawaiian Bros will officially arrive in Wichita.
