City to Hold Next Set of Public Housing Open Houses

The City has announced the next round of open houses as it continues to market public housing units currently available for sale. The City is listing these properties at fair market appraised value instead of traditional real estate market prices, making them more affordable for residents. Of the houses already listed, of which there are 37 total, 13 have sold, seven are under contract, and four are going to contract. Three of the homes under contract are with previous tenants of public housing.

Open houses have been scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 25 and 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, February 27.
These dates will feature the following single-family homes:

  • 917 S Whittier
  • 1233 N Lorraine
  • 2229 E 53rd Street S
  • 2236 E 53rd Street S
  • 5224 S Hydraulic
  • 1714 E Idlewild Dr
  • 1325 E Selma
  • 1213 E Selma
  • 2318 W 33rd St S
  • 546 S Richmond
  • 840 N Nevada
  • 991 N Robin

Inventory may be added or reduced for each open house event as additional units are available for marketing or as particular units go under contract. Offers will be reviewed on a regular basis between open houses.

Detailed information on each unit and the process for submitting a written offer are available at https://www.wichita.gov/Economic/Pages/RealEstate.aspx. Questions may be directed to City staff at HousingDevelopment@wichita.gov.

Homes currently on the market are being sold as part of a group of 37 homes scattered throughout the City that were recently approved for sale by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Any changes to open house schedules, such as cancellations for inclement weather, will be announced at wichita.gov/446/Public-Housing.
