Lent Options: The Envision Bistro’s Southern Catfish Po’boy

With Lent around the corner, it’s time to highlight meat-free options around Wichita. To get a head start on things, I stopped by NICHE’s The Envision Bistro, who recently reopened to the public with a new menu.

One item I noticed that caught my attention was the Southern Catfish Po’boy. I love a good po’boy, and I just haven’t had much luck with them in Wichita. I swung by The Envision Bistro the very first day I heard about the release and immediately ordered it.

The Envision Bistro Niche

The Envision Bistro’s take on the po’boy included the following, as described on their social pages:

Pickle Brined and Southern Fried Catfish Filets, Rémoulade Sauce, Sh’rettuce, Tomato, House Dill Pickles, on a Toasted French Roll. $10 While supplies last.

I made sure to add some slaw on the side which I doused over the top of my po’boy which provided a slight touch of heat.

This was definitely one of the better po’boys I’ve had around town. For starters, the southern fried catfish was a good meaty piece (or the technical term a good fishy piece because it’s not meat?). Between the catfish and the rémoulade sauce and slaw, it was very tasty and full of flavor. The French roll held everything together, so I was able to get a bit of each ingredient in each bite.

Overall, a solid first meal to start my travels around town searching for delicious Lent meals.

I’ve been a huge fan of The Envision Bistro’s dishes so far, and this just continued the streak.
