With Lent’s arrival, many restaurants around town will have non-meat specials and such was the case with When Pigs Fly who brought back their smoked lobster tails. For safe measure, they also added another special, smoked lemon pepper salmon. Yep, I stopped by and tried them both.

Here’s the deal, the Lenten specials are available on Fridays only until Easter. The supplies are limited, so make sure to call in and reserve yours or come in early. This was the line right after 11 a.m…. and it doubled in size at 11:30 a.m… After this blog, who knows how long it could get. Maybe shorter? We’ll see.

When Pigs Fly Lent Lobster

Then there’s the smoked lemon pepper salmon, which is a fresh salmon filet coated with a house made butter cream sauce and topped with lemon pepper seasoning, then smoked over pecan wood.
Dinner (1/2 lb filet & 2 sides) $15.99
Pound: $21.99

I ordered the dinner portion of the smoked lobster tails along with just a salmon filet. Talk about good eats.

Everything was just as described, smoked to perfection. If I were a millionaire, I’d probably order those lobster tails every day of the week. The lobster was sweet and rich in flavor; even better with that garlic butter sauce. It was one of those times I took my sweet time eating to savor every single bite. And the salmon was delicious as well, but if I had to choose, lobster always beats out salmon.

I had the lobster tails last year and waited an entire year for them to return. Now, I’m hoping I can still beat the rush of traffic and get my hands on more of them.
